Awarded to a most promising startup placing in the Top 10 or Top 25, that is positioned to make a significant regional impact. The venture must be located outside of the Greater Vancouver Regional District.

This year we have eight companies competing for the prize.

Axolotl Biosciences – Victoria

Axolotl Biosciences’ mission is to advance the fields of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine through the development and distribution of innovative products for 3D bioprinting, enabling the generation of human tissues for a variety of applications, including research and drug screening.

BinBreeze – Victoria

BinBreeze is an all-natural organic mineral and wood waste powder used to treat food-waste composting. Free of unnecessary chemicals and pesticides, this composting powder eliminates fruit flies and odours that come with food waste. This treatment sequesters natural carbon that would otherwise be emitted, further reduces the lifetime methane emissions, and enhances the nutritional profile of the waste.

Happipad – Kelowna

Happipad is an online platform that connects individuals looking for affordable, medium-to-long term accommodation with those who want to rent out space in their home. The Happipad platform leverages data analytics, curation, and trust mechanisms to make value transactions between users more efficient and to increase their likelihood of having a good rental experience.

LetHub – Victoria

LetHub is an AI leasing platform for rental property managers and landlords that takes care of prospect communication without hiring staff.

Locelle – North Saanich

Locelle is a B2B talent development platform for advancing and retaining women at work. Through 1:1 mentor-matching and professional development opportunities, Locelle delivers personal and professional growth to women using their mentor-matching technology.

SalonMonster – North Saanich

SalonMonster is an online booking, payment processing and business management toolkit that empowers self-employed hairstylists and beauty professionals, with career-spanning control, portability and integration.

Rootd – Victoria

Rootd is anxiety and panic attack relief in your pocket. The Victoria-based, female founded app blends a guided process for immediate and lifelong relief, with stigma-breaking design and therapist-approved content. It is currently the #1 ranked mobile app on Android and iOS for individuals struggling with panic attacks and anxiety.

Sucre – Fernie

Sucre provides a solution to companies that operate in environments where learning by mistake has catastrophic consequences. The company creates highly realistic immersive learning experiences that better prepare employees for high-risk work environments. Sucre’s platform helps to reduce equipment offline time, reduce training and assessment biases, and develop a more robust institutional memory of best practices and safe work procedures.
