Acacia Power Solutions has developed a device to effectively diagnose electrical issues with ease. Acacia’s device connects to a power system and downloads the data; the software then identifies any potential issues and provides analytics and graphs to help electrical engineers create solutions to fix various problems.

Interview with Kenley Tamoto, CEO and Co-founder of Acacia Power Solutions

What we do

As power engineers, data and proper diagnosis are extremely important to finding solutions for our clients. We noticed there was no effective tool or software that easily provided a proper diagnosis of the client’s electrical issues so we decided to create our own. Our software was developed with the specific purpose of analyzing, commissioning and troubleshooting power systems to provide engineers with unmatched analytic displays. Our new measurement tool fills a big gap in the industry and gives real-time visibility into power quality to help fix problems at the source.

Key Accomplishments

We’ve used our technology to study various systems. We have written reports on our findings that have been used to create new electrical standards. Our system data has been used across a variety of situations – from a court case to help pinpoint the source of an issue, resulting in  compensation for the owner, to developing engineered solutions for major theme parks so they can continue to operate safely and smoothly.

Our biggest challenge

Our biggest challenge has been trying to push the boundaries of what we’re used to. We’ve been trying to understand the best way to leverage our opportunities and think outside the box. Deciding on the direction we want to take Acacia and finding the expertise to help us grow has been a learning curve for us.

Five years from now…

We will be disruptors of the power industry! We want to own a fair share of the $4.5B power quality industry and continue to develop new features and services that help our clients. It’s time to raise the bar by giving facility owners a tool and service that keeps them informed on the condition of their power systems, saving them time and money.

Why the New Ventures BC Competition

The New Ventures BC Competition has offered help and guidance in areas that I felt the weakest and most scared. I want to show my team that it’s never too late to learn something new and to grow.
