The deadline is quick approaching! On the fence about entering the 2021 New Ventures BC Competition, presented by Innovate BC? We came up with five great reasons to apply.

5. $30,000 in speciality cash prizes (beyond Top 3)

This year we’re so excited to have three $10,000 speciality prizes, all sponsored by Innovate BC. These include the top Woman-Led Venture prize, a Social Venture prize, and Most Promising Regional Startup prize.

Whether you’re an amazing woman CEO, have a mission that supports the environment, community, or social cause or are building an incredible venture outside of the Lower Mainland, you’ve got new ways to win.

4. Education, on your own time

Our education series is back, and fully virtual! Get the lowdown on all things startup building, straight from your couch, patio, or kitchen table.

We’ve got tons of topics streaming weekly, so be sure not to miss them (or watch them later, on your own time). Also, they’re free!

3. Minimally awkward online networking

We’re going to do our best! A huge component of the competition is meeting other people — these once strangers who turn out to be your future investor, CMO, or life-long friend.

Since we can’t all share a drink in person, we’re moving networking online to Zoom — we hope that with our moderated breakout rooms, it can still be a great way to connect!

2. Amazing feedback from judges

Did you know? We have a network of 200+ volunteers, who are all top industry leaders and experts. That means the feedback you get in this competition matters.

This year, we even have a new judge who started her own unicorn, Laurie Schulz, of Galvanize.

1. It could be you who wins it all

With over $250,000 in cash prizes, in kind services, plus all the media recognition and attention earned from making it to the top — what do you have to lose? It could be you who takes home all the glory.
