BCIC-New Ventures’ 25 round-three competitors have been hard at work on their Round 3 business overviews which were submitted on August 8th.

Competition judges will announce the 10 finalists on September 4th but in the meantime let’s have a closer look at the Top 25.

MobiSafe Systems Inc. is an SFU-incubated start-up that plans to commercialize a patent-pending airbag inflation mechanism.

MobiSafe recognizes an unmet need for comprehensive protection in wheelchairs, which can only be delivered by an integrated airbag system.

During 2010, there were over 150,000 falls from wheelchairs in North America. Some of these incidents caused severe injuries to the rider, and cost the health care system over $3 billion.

MobiSafe’s proposed solution offers comprehensive protection, reducing costs to the health care system and insurance companies.
