Victoria-based MediaCore, a startup that recently refocused on education, has raised $1 million in new funding. The money comes from private angel investors in the US and UK and brings total funds raised to $1.5 million.

Leveraging this new influx of capital, the 2012 BCIC-New Ventures Competition: Regional 3rd place finisher has made a significant talent acquisition: it’s hired Alan Greenberg, who was formerly the Head of Higher Education in Europe and Asia for Apple. Alan will serve as MediaCore’s director of education.

The company originally focused its product on the enterprise, particularly small and medium businesses, before seeing unexpectedly strong adoption from universities and high schools.
