MetaOptimaBCIC New Ventures Competition alumni Molescope (MetaOptima) has won first prize and $3,000 in the annual Coast Capital Savings Venture Prize competition.

The awards recognize excellence in business development among SFU Venture Connection’s early stage clients.

Developed by SFU alumna Maryam Sadeghi, Burnaby’s Molescope connects an affordable, tiny microscope to smartphones so people can monitor suspicious moles that may be cancerous. Molescope also provides dermatologists with a patient-archiving and communication system for faster diagnosis.

MetaOptima won $40,000 last fall for the Wavefront Wireless prize in the BCIC New Ventures Competition.
