The New Ventures BC (NVBC) Society’s mandate is to recognize, encourage, and develop entrepreneurship and innovation in B.C.’s start-up technology sector. Since 2001, NVBC has supported this mandate by offering education, mentorship, networking, cash prizes, grant funding, and recognition. Outcomes have included thousands of new jobs, enhanced entrepreneurial skills, increased investment, technology commercialization, and above all, economic growth for B.C.
25 Years of Impact
New Ventures BC (NVBC) was initiated 24 years ago by Wal van Lierop to support early stage tech startups. As a non-profit, we run the annual New Ventures BC Competition, and a Venture Acceleration Program. Our programs have supported over 4000 startups across the Province.

The 2025 New Ventures BC Competition, presented by Innovate BC, will begin accepting applications in March 2025.
As the largest and longest running tech competition in BC, we help startups grow by providing knowledge from industry experts and networking opportunities to connect across the tech ecosystem.
