Eligibility

  • BC residents, teams or businesses
  • Innovative technology product or services
  • Any type of tech
  • Raised less than $1,000,000 in financing
  • Less than 5 years old
  • Incorporation not required
  • Pay the $200 entry fee

The competition takes place over four rounds of elimination.

By round 4, only ten companies will remain in the running for over $300,000 in cash and prizes.

The Idea

Submit your registration and describe your business idea. All eligible participants move on to Round 2.

May 3

6pm // Round 2 & 2.5 deadline

Feasibility Test

Submit a 6-page response to questions about your business idea.

  • 25 companies move on to Round 3
  • 15 additional companies will be paired with mentors and pitch their way into Round 3.

Aug 2

6pm // Round 3 deadline

Condensed Venture Plan

Companies will be paired with a mentor team to expand their idea into an 8 page condensed business plan.

Round 4

Top 10 pitches finale

Top 10 finalists make an in-person pitch to the jury.

  • $15,000 cash from Vancity, awarded to the top performing for-profit venture that has as part of its purpose a strong social or environmental mission and creates shared value to the local community and society at large in addition to economic profits.
  • Full scholarship to a Spring University program
  •  (value up to $3000)

$10,000

City Innovation prize

  • $10,000 cash from the Vancouver Economic Commission, for the top performing venture with a primary market or potential primary market of city departments and/or agencies.

  • $10,000 cash from BCIC, awarded to the top placing venture located outside of Metro Vancouver.
