The Idea

Submit your registration and describe your business idea. All eligible participants move on to Round 2.

May 7

6pm // Round 2 & 2.5 deadline

Feasibility Test

Submit a 6-page response to questions about your business idea.

  • 25 companies move on to Round 3
  • 15 additional companies will be paired with mentors and pitch their way into Round 3.

July 31

6pm // Round 3 deadline

Condensed Venture Plan

Companies will be paired with a mentor team to expand their idea into an 8 page condensed business plan.

Top 10 pitches finale

Top 10 finalists make an in-person pitch to the jury.

  • $20,000 cash from BCIC, awarded to the most promising venture working to commercialize a technology for application in Mining, Forestry, Agrifoods, Oceans, Oil and Gas, Energy, and/or Cleantech sectors.
  • 12-month access to the Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Program ($2,400 value)


Vancity Social Venture prize package

  • $15,000 cash from Vancity, awarded to the top performing for-profit venture that has as part of its purpose a strong social or environmental mission and creates shared value to the local community and society at large in addition to economic profits.
  • Full scholarship to a Spring accelerator program
  •  (value up to $3000)


City Innovation prize

  • $10,000 cash from the Vancouver Economic Commission, for the top performing venture with a primary market or potential primary market of city departments and/or agencies.


BCIC Top Regional Start-up prize

  • $10,000 cash from BCIC, awarded to the top placing venture located outside of Metro Vancouver.

In-kind International Scale-up prize package


In-kind CDRD Life Sciences prize

$10,000 of business consulting services from CDRD’s commercialization
division. Awarded to the top-placing life science company.

BC Tech Association prize package

NVBC will select a winner for the BC Tech Association Program prize package, which includes:

  • 6 month of coaching, legal and mentoring services
  • 6 months of office space – 2 dedicated desks at The Hub, meeting room access, internet and amenities
