Digital Dirt and Clean Data

SoilTrackers is an agtech platform that brings transparency and compliance to construction and land development by tracking soil movement from excavation to final disposal.

Illegal dumping, contaminated soil, and lack of oversight put farmland, fill sites, and ecosystems at risk. Municipalities often struggle to enforce bylaws, while farmers and landowners lack tools to verify soil quality and origin.

SoilTrackers solves this by combining real-time GPS tracking on hauling trucks with a cloud-based platform that automates compliance records, optimizes logistics, and gives all stakeholders—from contractors to regulators—full visibility into the process.

By digitizing environmental compliance, the platform helps prevent dumping, protect farmland, reduce liability, and support land remediation for regenerative agriculture and sustainable development.

Breaking New Ground

What they’ve done: SoilTrackers has launched its MVP, assembled a strong technical and environmental team, and sparked early interest from key stakeholders—including First Nations, private contractors, and regulators. With a live platform and a clear vision, the startup is building real momentum toward reshaping how Canada manages soil compliance.

Why NVBC: After entering the competition last year and falling short of the final round, the team used that experience as fuel. It helped them sharpen their value prop, strengthen their product, and return with more traction and clarity. Competing again this year is about challenging themselves among BC’s top founders. The alignment with New Ventures BC’s mission—tech for real-world impact—makes the competition the perfect stage for SoilTrackers.

Up Next: The team is focused on scaling through government and industry partnerships, enhancing automation and reporting features, and expanding across BC and beyond. By integrating with municipal systems and improving user experience, SoilTrackers aims to become the gold standard in soil movement compliance—empowering stakeholders to stay compliant and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Lessons From the Field

Mandeep Athwal’s first job? Working on his family’s blueberry farm in Richmond, B.C.—long before SoilTrackers was even an idea. There were no summer breaks, just early mornings, muddy boots, and hard-earned lessons in grit and consistency.

That experience didn’t just build work ethic—it built perspective. It taught Mandeep that lasting results come from doing the unseen work, staying disciplined, and leading with humility. Today, those same values guide his approach as CEO: building SoilTrackers from the ground up, with purpose and persistence.
