Sponsored by Vancity, the Good Money™ Impact Venture Challenge is looking for financially sustainable student- or graduate-run businesses that create positive social and environmental impact in B.C.

With a top prize of $50,000 it’s not surprising that they received 40 applications for the Challenge with connections to academic institutions including: SFU, UBC, UVIC, UFV, Royal Roads, Capilano University, Emily Carr University of Art + Design, BCIT, Kwantlen Polytechnic University and Langara and Camosun Colleges.

Business plans were reviewed by judges from across the Community Investment division of Vancity, and last week they announced the shortlist of impact-driven businesses moving on to Stage 2 of the competition.

Not one, not two, but three BCIC-New Ventures BC alumni have made the list of Top Ten finalists. Victoria’s Reef Safe Fish and Vancouver’s EnergyCzar and Twothirds Water will be invited to pitch their business to a new panel of judges and a shot at their share of a $90,000 prize fund.
